IAS Welcomes Doug Ernst, Ph.D. as Chief Technical Officer

With an aquaculture science and engineering career that spans four decades, Doug Ernst, Ph.D. is a high power addition to the IAS team as CTO. Doug is a former Assistant Professor at Oregon State University for 12 years, where he worked on advanced applied research projects including the development of aquaculture simulation software for static, flow through and recirculation systems. Doug moved to the private sector in 2002 and since then has directed his work on commercial aquaculture system development. Working in various positions including Director of R&D, Vice President and Chief Technical Officer for commercial aquaculture companies, Doug’s work has been focused on recirculating intensive enclosed climate-controlled aquaculture systems for large scale production. As an expert in water chemistry and biological process engineering, Doug applies his deep scientific knowledge and applied commercial biological process engineering background to IAS systems designs in addition to offering aquaculture engineering services.
