Integrated Aqua Systems, Inc. recently contributed to the Amazon River’s Edge Expansion at Caldwell Zoo in Tyler, Texas, by providing state-of-the-art water filtration and chlorine control systems. This new exhibit, which will soon feature jaguars, giant river otters, capybaras, giant anteaters, and a variety of South American birds, required advanced water management solutions to ensure optimal environmental conditions.
For the centerpiece of the expansion—a 40,500-gallon main exhibit with multiple pools and waterfalls—IAS supplied the CM Aqua HEX X3-3T Drum Filter, capable of filtering 750 gallons per minute. This high-performance drum filter was delivered pre-plumbed and pre-wired with our skid-mounted backwash control system, which includes a booster pump, solenoid valve, and the AquaPLC Drum Filter Controller. The AquaPLC controller’s Intelligent Backwash technology, based on actual water level readings, optimizes backwash cycles, extending intervals between them and significantly reducing water usage.
In addition to the filtration system, IAS provided the Prominent AEGIS II Controllers, which offer comprehensive water quality monitoring, including chlorine, temperature, and pH levels. With Wi-Fi connectivity, these controllers allow for remote monitoring and control, ensuring precise and reliable water quality management. The AEGIS II systems were delivered fully assembled, with probes and probe holder assemblies mounted on a PVC backplate, and were pre-programmed by IAS for straightforward installation and setup.
Recently, both the drum filter and chlorine controllers were successfully commissioned on-site by our field service technician, who also provided the Caldwell Zoo staff with thorough training on operation and maintenance. Integrated Aqua Systems is proud to support Caldwell Zoo in creating a safe and sustainable habitat for their new South American wildlife exhibit.
